After our short winter weather flash back last week, the weekend was a beautiful and balmy 60 degrees š I wanted to take advantage of some family visiting to hop outside and plant my container gardens while they showered him with love.
By now I’m sure many of you have seen some pins and/or posts on how to create a container herb garden (they’re all over Facebook and Pinterest). Truth is, I’m not going to show to you to make one (however, you can find a great instructional post HERE). I’m just going to show you how to make it awesome!
And what’s better than an herb garden? One that you can make delicious cocktails and mocktails out of!
Enter my container cocktail garden. This herb garden contains everything you need to serve up delicious handcrafted cocktails!
So for this special herb garden, I used the following herbs:
You’ll notice that I have the chocolate mint and the peppermint in different containers. You’re going to want to ensure that these two do not spread by making them pot-bound. They do very well this way and if you don’t do this, there’s a good chance they’ll take over your ENTIRE container…they spread very quickly. Normally, I skip this step all together and just put any type of mint in it’s own pot. However,Ā if you choose to plant them in the container with the rest of the herbs, the large 32oz yogurt containers work well to keep them in check!
I trimmed about an inch from the top and poked holes through the bottom for drainage.
Here are some examples of what I’ll be using this cocktail container garden for this spring/summer:
Blueberry Lavender Fizz Cocktail
Lime Grapefruit Basil Gin Punch
Strawberry Basil Ginger Cocktail
How will you use your cocktail garden?! š Cheers!

Gin Mint Cocktail - The Traveler's Nest
[…] This recipe was created on a hot summer day by my ever-loving husband, who saw my abundance of mint growing on our porch and decided to surprise me with a drink.Ā It’s very much like a mojitoĀ but sans the white rum. The mint and lime flavors compliment the flavor of the gin, bringing you a refreshing summer drink! I couldn’t think of any better way for the inaugural use of my Container Cocktail Garden. […]
